The integration of critical thinking in english language teaching in higher education using the communicative method

Abstract

In the modern globalized world, it is impossible to imagine the effective functioning of an individual without the development of critical thinking, as it enables the analysis of large volumes of information, resistance to disinformation, informed decision-making, and adaptation to rapid changes. In this context, the search for effective pedagogical approaches to its formation within the educational process becomes especially relevant. One such approach is the communicative method of teaching foreign languages, which is considered a conceptual basis for integrating critical thinking, as it provides favorable conditions for active verbal interaction, argumentation of their position, and reflective understanding of learners educational experiences.
