dc.description.abstract | This article is devoted to the problem of linguistic manifestation of Chinese meteorological words. In nature, fog, dew, and frost do not have a descending movement process in contrast with their linguistic manifestation in Mandarin and Datong. The corpus of analogue dialects shows that Chinese tends to express them as a decline, instead. This seems inconsistent. The expression of the law of images is the product of the conceptualisation of Chinese speakers based on social culture and life experience. That is, people regard fog, dew, frost, rain, snow, and hail as similar phenomena in the cognitive process. The expression of direction is similar to modern Chinese, and there is a deep connection with the expression of parts of speech in ancient Chinese. This association is based on the natural characteristics of different weather phenomena, and there is related knowledge in the Chinese character system. In order to reflect the relevant knowledge and its linguistic actualisation in an adequate way, it is beneficial to take into consideration the traditional knowledge in the sphere of ecology. | uk |
